Hero Karizma XMR — Overview
The Karizma name helped Hero MotoCorp dominate Indian sports biking two decades ago - and the XMR is its serious attempt to reclaim that crown. Powered by a 210cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine making 25.5 PS, it is the most powerful bike under Rs 2 lakh in India right now. The 2025 update added a USD inverted fork and a 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth navigation, bringing it genuinely close to the Yamaha R15 V4 on features while undercutting its price. There are two variants: the Top at Rs 1.99 lakh and the range-topping Combat Edition at Rs 2.02 lakh (both ex-showroom Delhi). The base telescopic-fork variant has been discontinued, which means the floor is now the fully-loaded version - a rare move from Hero. Ride quality on broken roads, engine vibrations at mid-range, and Hero's patchy service network are the known concerns. But if you want maximum performance per rupee in a semi-faired sports bike, the Karizma XMR is difficult to ignore.
Hero Karizma XMR Latest Updates
View allHero MotoCorp has officially delisted the base Karizma XMR 210 variant (with conventional telescopic fork and LCD display) from its website and dealerships. The base was priced at Rs 1,81,400 (ex-showroom Delhi); with its removal, the entry point to the Karizma XMR range has risen to Rs 1,99,750 (Top variant).
Hero MotoCorp added the Karizma XMR Combat Edition to the 2025 lineup at Rs 2,01,500 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Combat Edition is mechanically identical to the Top variant but features an exclusive matte Combat Grey colourway and aggressive combat-themed graphics - it is the first exclusive colourway in the Karizma XMR range.
Hero launched the updated 2025 Karizma XMR 210 with two new variants: Top (Rs 1,99,750) and Combat Edition (Rs 2,01,500), both ex-showroom Delhi. The key upgrades over the outgoing model are a 37mm gold-finished USD inverted front fork and a 4.2-inch full-colour TFT display with Bluetooth, turn-by-turn navigation, and call/SMS alert support.
What We Like
- Most powerful 210cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine in its class at 25.5 PS - more than the Yamaha R15 V4 (18.4 PS) and Bajaj Pulsar RS200 (24.5 PS)
- USD inverted fork, 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth navigation, slip & assist clutch, and dual-channel ABS on both variants - genuinely premium kit at Rs 2 lakh
- Aggressive semi-faired design with strong brand recall; the Karizma name still commands respect on Indian roads
- Hero's nationwide service and parts network - 9,000+ service points means you are never far from a dealership
What Could Be Better
- Engine vibrations noticeable around 5,000 rpm on the handlebar, tank and footpegs - buzzy enough to tire your hands on long NH runs
- Ride quality is stiff on patchy Indian roads; the suspension was clearly tuned for smooth tarmac and feels harsh over bad patches
- No riding modes, traction control, or quickshifter at this price - the Yamaha R15 V4 has all three, which matters if you push the bike hard
Editor's Verdict
Should You Buy the Hero Karizma XMR?
The Hero Karizma XMR makes a compelling case for itself: more power than the R15, more features than the Pulsar RS200, and a price that beats both on value. The 2025 update with USD fork and TFT display removed the biggest complaints about the original. What remains is a bike that is genuinely exciting to ride on smooth roads and genuinely frustrating on bad ones. Buy it if the performance-per-rupee argument wins you over; check a Hero service centre near you before you commit.
