Road King Specifications

The Harley-Davidson Road King is powered by the Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine - a 1746 cc air-cooled V-twin that has become one of the most respected powertrain in the touring segment. The engine produces 83.14 bhp at 5,020 rpm and 150 Nm of peak torque at just 3,250 rpm. That low-down torque figure is the heart of the Road King experience: you rarely need to rev it hard, and the bike pulls confidently at almost any speed in almost any gear.

The six-speed manual gearbox sends power to the rear wheel via a belt drive - a significant advantage over chain-drive rivals because belt drives are near-silent, require no lubrication, and last significantly longer. Harley claims 18 kmpl under ARAI test conditions; real-world riders in India report 14-16 kmpl depending on riding style and load.

At 375 kg, the Road King is among the heaviest motorcycles ever sold in India. This weight is noticeable at rest and in slow traffic, but it disappears at highway speeds where the bike feels planted, stable, and completely unfazed by crosswinds. The 705 mm seat height is relatively low for a touring motorcycle, making it accessible to a wider range of riders despite the weight.

Braking is handled by dual-channel ABS with 300 mm front and rear discs equipped with four-piston calipers - a setup borrowed from Harley's bigger touring range that provides excellent stopping power. Front suspension is a 41 mm telescopic fork and the rear uses a dual-shock setup adjustable for preload.

The 22.7-litre fuel tank (including a 3.8-litre reserve) is one of the largest on any motorcycle available in India, translating to a comfortable 350-400 km range between fill-ups - ideal for the NH7/NH44 stretches where petrol stations can be sparse in hilly terrain.
