Ducati Monster — Overview
At ₹13.84 lakh ex-showroom, the Ducati Monster 937 is arguably the cheapest entry into a proper Italian supernaked - and it feels every bit like one. Weighing just 188 kg with a 937cc Testastretta L-twin producing 111 hp and 93 Nm, the Monster delivers a riding experience that very few middleweight nakeds can match. It's three bikes in one: a sharp city commuter when you want it to be, a canyon carver on the weekends, and a genuine head-turner wherever it's parked. The Monster Plus and SP variants add electronic hardware and a Termignoni exhaust for riders who want even more. Three variants, seven colours, class-leading Brembo brakes, and a full electronics suite - the Monster is one of the most complete packages in its segment, even if Italian ownership costs are a reality you'll need to budget for.
Ducati Monster Latest Updates
View allDucati India has announced a price hike of up to 5% across select motorcycle models effective June 1, 2026, citing increased operational costs driven by inflation and rising commodity prices. The Ducati Monster Standard, currently priced at Rs 13,84,000 ex-showroom, could see an increase of approximately Rs 69,000-70,000 after the revision.
Ducati India has confirmed that the all-new Monster V2 (890cc), along with the Hypermotard V2 and DesertX V2, will be launched in India in 2026, with the Monster V2 expected in Q3 2026. The new Monster V2 uses the 890cc V-twin engine shared with the Panigale V2, producing 111 PS and 91.1 Nm, and is 4 kg lighter than the outgoing 937cc model at 175 kg.
Ducati India is currently offering a free 2-year extended warranty and 2-year roadside assistance (RSA) package on the Ducati Monster, effectively reducing first-year ownership costs for buyers of the current MY24 937cc model. This offer is available at authorised Ducati dealerships across India while stocks last.
What We Like
- Feels much lighter than its 188 kg kerb weight - nimble and confidence-inspiring in Mumbai traffic and mountain twisties alike
- Full electronics suite: bidirectional quickshifter, cornering ABS, 8-level traction control, wheelie control, and launch control as standard
- Brembo M4.32 radial calipers with dual 320 mm front discs - braking feedback and power is in a different league from rivals
- Testastretta L-twin character - strong, accessible torque from 3,000 rpm makes city riding and highway cruising equally rewarding
What Could Be Better
- Rear cylinder positioned directly under the seat generates intense heat in slow city traffic - painful in Indian summers
- Compact ergonomics feel cramped for riders above 6 feet; limited stretch means longer rides become uncomfortable
- High cost of ownership: annual service and spare parts are significantly more expensive than Japanese or even British rivals
Editor's Verdict
Should You Buy the Ducati Monster?
The Ducati Monster is the right bike if you want genuine Italian character, world-class electronics, and Brembo brakes at the entry point of the premium naked segment. Buy it knowing that the heat, the tight fit for tall riders, and the service costs are real - but for most riders under 6 feet who can service it at the right intervals, it rewards generously every single time you twist the throttle.
