The Yamaha FZ X has been one of the more active platforms in Yamaha India's lineup since its 2021 launch - receiving meaningful updates and spawning a new Hybrid variant, making it worth tracking for both prospective buyers and current owners.
May 2026 - Price Hike Yamaha revised FZ X prices upward by up to Rs 2,800. The standard variant moved from Rs 1,21,410 to Rs 1,23,910 ex-showroom (Delhi), and the premium colour variant from Rs 1,29,510 to Rs 1,32,310. The increase follows broader input cost pressures across the two-wheeler industry.
2024 - FZ X Hybrid Launched Yamaha added a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) mild-hybrid system to create the FZ X Hybrid, priced at Rs 1,39,100-1,42,510 ex-showroom. The SMG enables silent auto stop/start, smoother engine restart at traffic lights, and marginally improved initial torque. Official claimed mileage for the Hybrid is 45.94 kmpl - lower than the standard variant's 55.11 kmpl ARAI figure, though real-world performance differences are less dramatic.
2023 Model Update Yamaha added traction control and LED turn indicators to the FZ X - two upgrades that addressed frequent owner requests. The 2023 model also received minor cosmetic tweaks. Traction control in particular elevated the FZ X's safety credentials significantly in its segment.
Ongoing - Battery Drain Issue The Y-Connect Bluetooth module continues to drain the battery when the bike sits idle for more than 48 hours - a persistent issue since the Bluetooth variant launched. Yamaha has acknowledged the problem. No firmware fix has been released as of June 2026. The community workaround: disconnect the negative battery terminal if the bike will sit unused for more than two days.

Yamaha launched the FZ X Hybrid on July 14, 2025 at Rs 1.49 lakh ex-showroom, adding a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) mild-hybrid system for silent engine start, stop-start functionality, and mild torque assist, along with a 4.2-inch colour TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation via Google Maps.
The FZ X's active product cycle is a positive signal for the platform's longevity. Yamaha has updated it faster than most 150cc bikes in India, and the Hybrid variant indicates the company sees it as a long-term offering rather than a one-generation model.
