Apache RTR 160 4V Specifications

The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is powered by a 159.7cc, single-cylinder, four-valve, oil-cooled engine built around TVS's Race Tuned Fuel Injection (RT-Fi) and O3C (Oil-Cooled Combustion Chamber) technologies. In Sport mode it produces 17.55 PS at 9,250 rpm and 14.73 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm - the highest output in the naturally-aspirated 160cc class. In Urban and Rain modes, the ECU dials back power delivery for more manageable city and wet-road behaviour.

The engine drives a 5-speed gearbox with a short, sporty gear ratio spread. The 2026 update added an assist and slipper clutch across all variants - a genuine improvement that smoothens downshifts and reduces lever effort in heavy traffic.

For suspension, the base variant runs conventional telescopic forks at the front, while the Dual Channel ABS with USD and the USD with TFT variants get 37mm inverted (USD) forks - hardware you'd normally find on Rs 2-3 lakh motorcycles. The rear uses a monoshock on all variants. Ground clearance is 180mm, which handles most Indian road imperfections.

Braking uses a 270mm front disc across the range. The base variant has a rear drum and single-channel ABS; the two higher variants get a rear disc and dual-channel ABS with Ride Linked Protection (RLP), which adjusts ABS sensitivity per riding mode.

ARAI-certified mileage is 41.4 kmpl. Real-world owners report 40-47 kmpl - better if you stick to Urban or Rain mode in city traffic, lower if you're frequently in Sport mode. The 12-litre tank gives a practical range of 480-560 km per fill.

At 800mm seat height and 144 kg kerb weight, it fits riders from around 5'4" upwards. The weight is competitive but not the class lightest - the Hero Xtreme 160R is slightly lighter. Tyres are MRF Revz radials: 90/90-17 front, 110/80-17 rear.
