January 2025 - India Launch KTM India launched the 2025 390 Adventure range on 30 January 2025. The lineup comprised the 390 Adventure, 390 Adventure X, and 250 Adventure. The 390 Adventure X launched at Rs 2,91,140 ex-showroom - a sharp price that positioned it as the most affordable entry into the KTM ADV family while still packing a quickshifter and TFT display that none of its sub-Rs 3 Lakh rivals could match.
Mid-2025 - Cruise Control Update: 390 Adventure X+ Following buyer feedback and comparison reviews that highlighted the missing cruise control as the X's most obvious gap versus the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM India introduced the updated 390 Adventure X with cruise control at Rs 3.03 Lakh, and subsequently a variant badged X+ at Rs 3,43,180 with the full feature set. The update effectively addressed the most-cited criticism of the original X.
2025 - Reliability Reports: Oil Burning & ECU Issues Early owner reports on Team-BHP and KTM owner forums flagged an engine oil consumption issue affecting some units - approximately 300 ml per 1,000 km according to multiple accounts. KTM India acknowledged the issue and began replacing cylinder kit assemblies under warranty for affected bikes. Separately, ECU failure reports surfaced from a subset of owners, leading to mid-ride breakdowns. KTM dealerships have been handling these under warranty on a case-by-case basis. Current production appears to have addressed both issues, but owners of early batches should ensure their units have been through the service campaign.

KTM has launched a new 349cc version of the base 390 Adventure at Rs 2,80,905 ex-showroom, positioned below the 399cc X in the range. The 349cc engine produces 41.5 PS and 33.5 Nm, and benefits from India's lower 18% GST bracket for sub-350cc bikes, making it significantly more affordable than the 399cc Adventure X.
KTM India raised the ex-showroom price of the 390 Adventure X by Rs 17,000 in April 2026, taking it from Rs 3,26,178 to Rs 3,43,180. The hike is attributed to the higher 40% GST applicable to motorcycles above 350cc under India's revised GST 2.0 structure introduced in September 2025.
Prospective buyers should monitor KTM India's official service bulletin channel and owner community threads for any fresh reliability updates. The oil-burning and ECU issues appear batch-specific and have been covered under warranty, but second-hand buyers should verify the service history to confirm the relevant campaigns have been carried out.
