Ninja 650 Specifications

The Kawasaki Ninja 650 is built around a 649cc liquid-cooled DOHC parallel-twin engine with 4 valves per cylinder. It produces 67.3 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 64 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm - numbers that look modest on paper but feel punchy in real-world riding because the torque curve is fat and accessible from as low as 4,000 rpm.

Power goes through a 6-speed gearbox with an assist-and-slipper clutch. The slipper clutch is genuinely useful - it prevents rear-wheel hop during aggressive downshifts and lightens the clutch lever pull, which reduces fatigue in stop-and-go city traffic.

The chassis is a twin-spar steel trellis frame. Suspension is a 41mm telescopic fork up front (non-adjustable) and a horizontal back-link monoshock at the rear (preload-adjustable). Ground clearance is 130mm - adequate on most roads but tight on poorly maintained urban stretches.

Stopping power comes from a 300mm front dual disc with 2-piston callipers and a 220mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper. Dual-channel ABS is standard across all variants.

Electronics are genuinely impressive for the segment. Kawasaki Traction Control (KTRC) comes with two modes plus an off switch. The 4.3-inch TFT colour display supports Bluetooth smartphone connectivity via the Rideology app, which lets you log trip data and manage phone notifications. All lighting is full-LED.

The 15-litre fuel tank gives a practical range of 315+ km at highway speeds based on the ARAI-rated 21 kmpl - real-world mixed riding typically yields 19-22 kmpl depending on conditions. Kerb weight is 196 kg and the 790mm seat height is accessible for most riders of average Indian height.
