Jawa 42 Bobber — Overview
India's only factory bobber under Rs 2.5 lakh, the Jawa 42 Bobber pairs a 334cc liquid-cooled engine with an authentic custom-bike look that no rival in this segment can match. Launched in October 2022 and updated since with new colour and wheel options, it targets riders who want to look different and ride with purpose - not haul groceries or commute with a pillion.
Jawa 42 Bobber Latest Updates
View allClassic Legends reduced Jawa 42 Bobber prices by up to Rs 16,367 following the GST rate cut on sub-350cc motorcycles from 28% to 18%, effective September 6, 2025. The full benefit was passed on to customers, bringing base variant pricing down significantly.
Classic Legends launched the Jawa Yezdi BSA Ownership Assurance Programme on March 4, 2025, offering 42 Bobber buyers a 4-year/50,000 km standard warranty (extendable to 6 years), one year of roadside assistance, and reduced after-sales component costs due to GST benefits.
Jawa launched the 42 Bobber Red Sheen colour variant in India on May 24, 2024, priced at Rs 2,29,500 ex-showroom. The new shade targets buyers who wanted a warmer tone than Moonstone White without the boldness of Jasper Red.
What We Like
- Factory bobber looks that genuinely turn heads - the floating solo seat and slash-cut exhausts make it unlike anything at this price
- 334cc liquid-cooled engine with 32.74 Nm torque delivers strong, smooth pull across city speeds and open highways
- Low 740mm seat height means even shorter riders can flat-foot confidently
- Full-LED lighting and a clean digital instrument cluster feel premium for the price
What Could Be Better
- Suspension is tuned firm - city potholes and bad roads remind you quickly, and it worsens at speed
- Engine heat in stop-and-go traffic is genuinely uncomfortable; the motor runs hot and you feel it on your legs
- After-sales service is a known pain point - Jawa's dealer network is thin and customer support inconsistent
Editor's Verdict
Should You Buy the Jawa 42 Bobber?
The Jawa 42 Bobber is the most interesting motorcycle in its price band if you're buying it for what it is: a weekend cruiser with serious style cred and a punchy engine. It falls short as a daily commuter - no pillion, stiff ride, and patchy service support are real compromises. Buy it as a second bike or if you're willing to look past the niggles for something that looks nothing like a Royal Enfield.
