42 Bobber Specifications

The Jawa 42 Bobber is built around a 334cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine - the same unit that powers the wider Jawa/Yezdi lineup, tuned here for smooth cruiser-style power delivery. It produces 29.51 bhp at 7,500 rpm and 32.74 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm, figures that comfortably outgun the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 (20.4 bhp) while staying tractable rather than aggressive.

The 6-speed gearbox is smooth and well-spaced, easy to slot into the right gear whether you're filtering through Mumbai traffic or cruising on NH44. Fuel injection keeps throttle response clean and ensures consistent cold starts - something older carbureted Jawas were notorious for fumbling.

The chassis is a double-cradle steel frame with 35mm telescopic forks up front and a 7-step adjustable monoshock at the rear. The suspension is deliberately firm - appropriate for a bobber's low posture but not forgiving on broken city roads. Tyres are 100/90-18 at the front and 140/70-17 at the rear; spoke-wheel variants run tube-type and alloy variants run tubeless.

Braking is handled by a 280mm front disc and 240mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS as standard. At 185 kg the 42 Bobber is heavier than it looks, so low-speed manoeuvring in tight spots takes practice.

The 12.5-litre fuel tank gives a real-world range of roughly 350-375 km at the ARAI-rated 30.56 kmpl. Seat height of 740 mm is one of the lowest in this segment, which helps with the bobber stance and accessibility for shorter riders.
