Honda Dio Specifications - Engine, Mileage & Dimensions
The Honda Dio is powered by a 109.51cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, PGM-Fi (fuel injection) engine that is OBD-2B compliant for 2025. It produces 7.95 PS at 8,000 rpm and 9.03 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm - modest figures, but entirely appropriate for a lightweight urban scooter. The engine is paired with a CVT automatic transmission, meaning no gear changes and smooth, effortless acceleration from standstill.
Fuel efficiency is one of the Dio's strongest suits. The ARAI-certified figure is 50 kmpl, and real-world owner reports consistently land between 48 and 55 kmpl depending on riding style and traffic conditions. The 5.3-litre fuel tank gives a practical range of around 250-265 km on a full tank - meaning most city commuters will fill up once a week at most.
At 106 kg kerb weight, the Dio is among the lightest in its segment. This low mass pays dividends in daily use - lane splitting, U-turns, and parking in tight spots are genuinely effortless. Seat height stands at 765 mm, which is manageable for most Indian riders, though very short riders may find it a touch high.
The braking setup is a Combi Brake System (CBS) with 130 mm drum brakes front and rear. CBS automatically distributes braking force between both wheels when the rear lever is applied - it's a proven, low-maintenance system, but the lack of a front disc option is a genuine shortcoming compared to rivals at this price.
Suspension is telescopic forks at the front and a Unit Swing setup at the rear. Both are tuned on the stiffer side, which keeps the Dio agile but can translate to a jarring ride on Mumbai or Bengaluru's potholes, especially with a pillion aboard.

For a complete side-by-side comparison, the Honda Dio uses the same 109.51cc platform as the previous BS6 model, now updated for OBD-2B compliance. The tyre sizes are 90/90-12 (front) and 90/100-10 (rear), both tubeless. Ground clearance is 160 mm - adequate for most city speed bumps but not exceptional. Wheelbase is 1,260 mm, contributing to the stable, planted feel at city speeds. The DLX variant adds alloy wheels on both ends over the STD's steel units, which marginally reduces unsprung weight and improves aesthetics significantly.
