CBR650R Specifications

The Honda CBR650R is built around a 649cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four engine - the same configuration you find in litre-class superbikes, just scaled down. It produces 95.17 PS at 12,000 rpm and 63 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm, numbers that translate to an effortlessly smooth mid-range and a screaming top end that rewards riders who like to work the rev counter.

The engine is mated to a close-ratio 6-speed gearbox. The standard variant uses a conventional manual clutch with a slipper-and-assist function to prevent rear wheel hop under aggressive downshifts. The E-Clutch variant adds Honda's electronically controlled clutch, which lets you shift without manually operating the lever - essentially a seamless bridge between automatic and manual riding.

Suspension is handled by a Showa SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork - Big Piston) 41mm inverted unit up front, which splits the damping and spring functions between the two fork legs for reduced unsprung weight and better feedback. The rear uses a preload-adjustable monoshock. Braking comes from dual radial-mounted 310mm front discs gripped by 4-piston Nissin calipers, paired with a 240mm single disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is standard across both variants.

The CBR650R sits at 810 mm seat height, which is manageable for average Indian riders. Kerb weight is 209 kg - heavy by middleweight standards, but the weight is carried low and the bike feels lighter than it reads on a spec sheet. Fuel tank holds 15.4 litres. ARAI-claimed mileage is 25 kmpl; real-world urban figures average closer to 18-20 kmpl depending on how hard you ride.
