BMW G 310 R Latest News & Updates
The BMW G 310 R was officially discontinued in India in April 2025 when OBD2B emission norms came into effect. BMW Motorrad chose not to recertify the 313cc single-cylinder platform under the new standards, ending the G 310 R's production run alongside the G 310 GS. The G 310 RR - the full-faired sport variant on the same 313cc platform - was recertified and continues to be sold in India, with a Limited Edition variant having launched in 2025.
The broader context is BMW Motorrad's platform transition. The new 449cc parallel-twin co-developed with TVS Motor Company is the brand's strategic direction for entry-level India products. The BMW F 450 GS, the adventure-tourer on this platform, was launched in India on April 23, 2026 at Rs 4.70 lakh ex-showroom and immediately sold out its initial allocation with waiting periods extending to September 2026. A naked roadster on the same platform - the BMW F 450 R - is expected to follow and would be the G 310 R's natural successor.
For existing G 310 R owners, BMW Motorrad India has confirmed that parts availability and authorised service support will continue through its dealer network post-discontinuation. The 313cc platform has a long enough production history that parts supply is stable.
The used G 310 R market remains active. Prices have settled in the Rs 1.60-2.40 lakh range for well-maintained examples - a meaningful discount from the last official new price of Rs 2,85,000.

The G 310 R's discontinuation is the end of a specific chapter for BMW Motorrad India - the entry-level naked 300cc from a European brand built in India at a price that made BMW accessible to a much wider buyer base than ever before. The F 450 R, when it arrives, will pick up that mantle at a higher price point. Until then, the used G 310 R market is the best way to experience what BMW built here.
