BMW F850 GS Variants and Prices
BMW sold the F850 GS in India in two distinct variants: the standard F850 GS Pro and the F850 GS Adventure. Both were discontinued in February 2025, but used examples of both continue to circulate on the secondhand market.
F850 GS Standard - Pro - Rs 12.95 Lakh ex-showroom (last known price)
This is the base version, though calling it base undersells it considerably. The Pro variant came loaded as standard: bidirectional quickshifter, cruise control, heated grips, keyless ignition, TFT display with Bluetooth, Dynamic Traction Control, ABS Pro with cornering function, and four riding modes. A USB charging port and full LED lighting were also standard - no option packs required.
The 15-litre fuel tank, 43mm USD front forks, and 233 kg kerb weight are shared across both variants. The Standard Pro is the better choice for riders who spend most of their time on tarmac with occasional gravel capability, and for those who want to keep the total purchase cost down.
F850 GS Adventure - Rs 13.75 Lakh ex-showroom (last known price)
The Adventure variant builds on the Standard Pro spec with a larger fuel tank for greater range between fills, a taller and wider windscreen for improved wind protection at highway speeds, and ergonomics tweaked for extended adventure touring. It weighs slightly more but is better suited to riders planning multi-day runs with luggage or regular diversions onto unpaved surfaces.
The Rs 80,000 premium over the Standard Pro is easy to justify if your riding regularly involves long-distance touring or genuine off-road use. For riders whose adventures are mostly on tarmac with the occasional weekend detour, the Standard Pro delivers effectively the same riding experience at a lower outlay.
Both variants shared identical powertrains, electronics suites, and chassis geometry - the differences are ergonomic and capacity-focused, not performance-related.

With the F850 GS discontinued, buying now means the used market. Standard Pro examples in clean condition were trading at Rs 10-12 Lakh through 2024-2025, while low-kilometre Adventure variants commanded Rs 11-13 Lakh. Service history matters more than colour or accessories - BMW's authorised service network is required for warranty-backed work, and out-of-warranty repair costs run higher than Japanese rivals. Budget for a pre-purchase inspection at an authorised BMW Motorrad dealer before committing. If the used market feels uncertain, the BMW F900 GS - the direct successor - is available new in India and carries the same platform DNA with updated engine and electronics.
