BMW F 450 GS Full Specifications 2026
The BMW F 450 GS is powered by a 449.4cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC fuel-injected engine producing 35.4 PS at 8000 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6250 rpm. The torque arrives relatively low in the rev range - 6250 rpm versus the KTM 390 Adventure's 7000 rpm - which is a deliberate tuning choice for off-road tractability over peak power output.
The defining technical specification is the suspension setup. The F 450 GS runs 43mm WP USD (upside-down) forks with 240mm of travel at the front and a WP shock absorber with 250mm of travel at the rear. These travel figures substantially exceed what most sub-Rs 5 lakh motorcycles offer - the KTM 390 Adventure has 170mm front and 177mm rear travel; the RE Himalayan 450 has 200mm front and 180mm rear. The BMW's extra 40-70mm of travel directly translates to greater absorption of the large bumps and sudden surface changes found on Ladakh stages, forest tracks, and unpaved mountain roads.
The wheel setup is adventure-optimised: 21-inch spoked front and 18-inch spoked rear, running tubeless. The 21-inch front wheel rolls over rocks, ruts, and debris more cleanly than a 19-inch setup and accepts a wider range of adventure and enduro tyres. Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc and 240mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS - the ABS is switchable for off-road use.
Kerb weight is 158 kg - the lightest figure available on any adventure motorcycle in this displacement class in India. Ground clearance is approximately 220mm, and the fuel tank holds 13 litres, giving an approximate range of 360-380 km at real-world efficiency.

The BMW F 450 GS uses a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. Instrumentation includes a digital LCD display showing speed, gear position, fuel level, and trip computer. The riding position is upright and adventure-oriented, with wide handlebars placed for standing riding on rough terrain. The 870mm seat height requires riders of at least 5'8" to place both feet flat, though the narrow seat profile helps shorter riders reach the ground on one foot.
