The Yamaha R3 has had one of the most eventful pricing histories of any bike in India over the past two years, and there are significant updates ahead.
2025 Price Cuts: The biggest news in the R3's recent history is the dramatic price reduction. In early 2025, Yamaha cut the R3's price by approximately Rs 1.10 lakh - from Rs 4,64,900 to Rs 3,59,900 ex-showroom (Delhi). This was followed by a second reduction to Rs 3,39,028 after the Indian government reduced GST on sub-350cc motorcycles from 28% to 18% and Yamaha passed the savings directly to buyers. The combined cut of over Rs 1.25 lakh brought the R3 into direct competition with the KTM RC 390 for the first time since its India relaunch.
2025 Yamaha R3 - Global Unveil, India Pending: Yamaha unveiled the 2025 YZF-R3 globally with significant updates: a new sharper-edged design with fairing-mounted winglets, quad-LED DRLs, a projector headlamp, a new LCD cluster with Bluetooth connectivity (replacing the basic unit on the current bike), and an assist and slipper clutch. The design has been patented in India, and Yamaha is expected to launch the 2025 model in India through 2026. Pricing for the new model has not been confirmed - it is expected to carry a premium of Rs 10,000-30,000 over the current bike.
Bharat Mobility Expo: Yamaha showcased the new R3 concept at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo in New Delhi, signalling a clear intent to bring the updated model to the Indian market. An official India launch date has not been announced as of June 2026.
Ownership Updates: Multiple Team-BHP owners have crossed 10,000 km and 20,000 km milestones on the current R3, with reliability reported as strong. Common maintenance costs include brake pad replacement at around 15,000-18,000 km and a fork oil change recommended at 20,000 km.
