R3 Colours

The Yamaha R3 is offered in two colour options for 2026: Icon Blue and Yamaha Black. Both are available on the single R3 STD variant at the same ex-showroom price.

Icon Blue (officially listed as Deep Purplish Blue Metallic C in VAHAN records) is the signature colour of the R-series family. The combination of metallic blue bodywork with black and white graphics is unmistakably Yamaha - the same DNA that runs through the R1, R6, and R7. Under sunlight, the metallic flake in the paint gives the fairing depth and visual movement. The blue headlight pod, tank, and tail section sit against black frame sections and engine casings for a colour-blocked two-tone effect that photographs exceptionally well. This is the colour most associated with the R3 identity and the one Yamaha uses in all its marketing material.

Yamaha Black is the alternative for riders who prefer a more subdued daily-rider look without the "sportsbike attention" that Icon Blue attracts in traffic. The all-black panels with subtle grey and silver detailing give the bike an almost stealth-fighter appearance, especially with the black frame and engine casings that already come as standard. At night, the full-LED headlight's sharp projector beam stands out even more dramatically against the black bodywork.

Both colours use the same paint quality and finish - there is no premium or discount for either option. Availability at dealerships sometimes varies: Icon Blue tends to be more readily stocked given its popularity, while Yamaha Black may occasionally require a 2-4 week wait depending on the city.

From a resale perspective, Icon Blue typically holds marginally better resale value as it is the "hero" colour that most buyers associate with the R3 brand identity. If you plan to sell within 2-3 years, blue is the safer choice.
