Versys-X 300 Specifications

The Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is built around a 296cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine that produces 38.8 bhp at 11,500 rpm and 26 Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. That's a rev-happy, high-rpm motor - more sporty touring twin than low-grunt off-road thumper. It's mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch, which makes downshifts smooth and prevents rear wheel hop under aggressive braking.

The engine architecture is what separates the Versys-X 300 from most rivals in this price band. While the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure run single-cylinder motors, the Versys-X 300's parallel-twin is inherently smoother and more refined. You'll notice it most on long highway stretches - vibrations stay minimal even at sustained 120-130 km/h.

On the chassis side, the bike rides on a steel backbone frame suspended by 41mm telescopic front forks with 130mm of travel and a link-type preload-adjustable rear monoshock with 148mm travel. These aren't numbers to brag about - the KTM 390 Adventure and Himalayan 450 both offer more suspension travel for real off-road work. The Versys-X 300 is best understood as a soft-road tourer: potholed highways and broken tarmac are fine, but rocky forest trails will punish both rider and bike.

At 175 kg kerb weight, it's among the lightest bikes in its class - easier to manoeuvre in Mumbai traffic or haul out of a ditch than heavier rivals. Braking is handled by petal discs (290mm front, 220mm rear) with dual-channel ABS and 2-piston calipers at both ends. Ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels shod with tubed tyres - one of the bike's most criticised features in 2025.

Fuel tank capacity is 17 litres, with ARAI-certified mileage of 24.39 kmpl. Real-world touring returns are closer to 25-27 kmpl, giving a practical range of 425-460 km per tank - among the best in this segment for touring use.
