Kawasaki Ninja 1000 Full Specifications
The Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX is powered by a 1043cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine producing 140.13 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 111 Nm of torque at 8,000 rpm. That's a lot of power, but Kawasaki has tuned the motor to be remarkably tractable - the real-world riding experience is smooth and linear, not peaky. You'll find yourself using a fraction of that power on most Indian rides, which is exactly why owners report such strong reliability.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. The quickshifter (available on the SX) lets you upshift without touching the clutch - useful for overtaking on NH44 without disrupting your line. There are two power modes: Full and Low. Low mode reduces output to around 70% - handy for wet expressway runs or when you're carrying a pillion on a mountain road.
On the chassis side, the Ninja 1000SX uses 41mm inverted front forks with compression, rebound, and preload adjustability - fully tunable for touring loads. The rear uses a gas-charged monoshock with remote preload adjustment. Ground clearance is 130mm, which is tight for India - you will scrape on broken roads or steep driveway entries.
Braking is handled by dual 300mm petal discs up front with 4-piston Brembo-sourced calipers, and a 250mm petal disc at the rear. Kawasaki's Intelligent ABS (KIBS) extends to cornering - the system reads lean angle via the IMU and modulates braking force accordingly. This is a class-leading safety feature at this price point.
The electronics suite includes: three-mode traction control (TC1 / TC2 / TC3 + OFF), cornering management, electronic cruise control, ride-by-wire throttle, and a 4.3-inch TFT instrument cluster on later model years. Fuel tank capacity is 19 litres, seat height is 835 mm, and kerb weight is 238 kg.

The Ninja 1000SX's specs tell the story of a mature machine - not the most powerful, not the lightest, but everything dialled in for a rider who wants to do 600 km in a day and arrive without wanting to get off the bike. The 19-litre tank gives you roughly 340 km per fill at a relaxed highway pace, which means fewer stops on a Leh run. ARAI-rated mileage is 18 kmpl; real-world owners report 17-20 kmpl depending on riding style and fuel quality (the engine recommends 95-octane).
