Honda SP160 Latest News - Price Changes, Updates & New Variants
The Honda SP160 has had a steady run since its original launch in 2023. Here's a chronological overview of major updates and news around the bike:
December 2024-2025 Model Update (OBD2B Compliance) Honda launched the updated 2025 SP160 with OBD2B (On-Board Diagnostics Phase 2B) compliance, meeting India's latest emission monitoring norms. The engine output remained unchanged - 13.27 bhp and 14.58 Nm - but the updated hardware added a marginal price premium. The Single Disc saw a price increase of approximately Rs 3,000 and the Double Disc approximately Rs 4,605 over the previous model. No changes were made to the design or feature set.
2025 Price Revisions Following GST and tax structure changes in 2025, Honda revised SP160 pricing across several states. Prices in some markets saw a reduction of approximately Rs 9,000, though this varied significantly by state and variant.
Current Standing in the Segment (2026) The SP160 continues to compete in an increasingly crowded 160cc sports commuter segment. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V remains its most direct rival - offering more performance, dual-channel ABS, and ride modes at a nearly identical price point. The Bajaj Pulsar N160 and Yamaha FZ V4 are also strong alternatives. Honda's advantage remains its engine refinement, fuel efficiency, and service network reliability - factors that consistently show up in ownership surveys.
What's Next Honda has not officially announced a next-generation SP160. Given the 2025 OBD2B update, a major refresh is unlikely before 2027. The addition of dual-channel ABS would be the most impactful upgrade Honda could make to improve the SP160's competitive positioning.
Official Updates (3)
Honda 2-Wheeler India recorded total sales of 5.63 lakh units in April 2026, a 17.44% year-on-year increase over April 2025. The SP160 continues as an active model in Honda's commuter lineup contributing to this growth.
Honda revised the SP160's ex-showroom prices downward following GST 2.0 restructuring in September 2025, reducing the Single Disc variant price by approximately Rs 5,000-9,000 depending on the city, with the Delhi ex-showroom price falling to Rs 1,15,733.
Honda launched the 2025 SP160 on December 25, 2024, with an updated 4.2-inch TFT instrument console featuring Honda RoadSync Duo Bluetooth connectivity, a USB Type-C charging port, and OBD2B-compliant engine - the first major feature update since the bike's 2023 introduction. Prices increased to Rs 1,21,951 (Single Disc) and Rs 1,27,956 (Double Disc) ex-showroom.
The SP160's news cycle has been relatively quiet since the December 2024 OBD2B update - no colour additions, no variant changes, no major recalls. Honda's typical update cadence for commuter bikes in India runs 2-3 years between significant refreshes, suggesting the next meaningful SP160 update is likely in 2027. For current buyers, the 2025 model is the best version of the SP160 yet, and the pricing post-GST revisions makes it one of the more competitively positioned 160cc bikes in the segment.
