Hero Super Splendor Xtec: All Variants & Prices
The Super Splendor Xtec is available in two variants: Drum (OBD2B) and Disc (OBD2B). Both share the same 124.7 cc engine, digital LCD console, Bluetooth connectivity, i3S technology, LED headlight with DRL, and USB charging port. The difference is entirely in the braking setup - and it matters more than most spec sheets suggest.
The Drum variant is priced at Rs 83,448 ex-showroom in Delhi. It uses 130 mm drum brakes on both wheels, backed by a combined braking system (CBS) that distributes braking force between both wheels when either lever is applied. For urban commuters who ride mostly below 70 km/h, the drum setup handles everyday braking without complaint. CBS prevents the rear wheel lockup that causes most low-speed falls. If your riding is entirely city-focused and budget is a real constraint, the Drum variant makes sense.
The Disc variant is priced at Rs 88,044 ex-showroom in Delhi - a premium of approximately Rs 4,600. The front brake upgrades to a 240 mm disc with a single-piston calliper. The improvement is tangible: shorter stopping distances, more progressive lever feel, and significantly less brake fade if you are braking repeatedly on a downhill stretch or in heavy traffic. If you ride at highway speeds even occasionally, carry a pillion, or simply want the confidence of sharper stopping, the Rs 4,600 premium is a straightforward decision.
Both variants are available in all four colour options - Gloss Black, Candy Blazing Red, Matt Nexus Blue, and Matt Axis Grey - so colour preference does not force your hand on variant selection.
On-road prices vary meaningfully by city because RTO charges differ across states. Delhi on-road for the Drum variant is approximately Rs 98,600; Bangalore and Chennai run higher due to state RTO slabs. Check the city-specific price pages on this site for an accurate breakdown before visiting a dealership.

Our recommendation: choose the Disc variant unless budget is the hard constraint. The Rs 4,600 difference is manageable on EMI - roughly Rs 130 extra per month over 36 months - and the disc brake delivers a noticeable safety improvement in everyday riding. Both variants hold strong resale values; the Hero Splendor family consistently commands better resale retention than most competitors in this segment. At the dealership, avoid paying for accessory packages that inflate the bill; frame guards and seat covers are cheaper in the aftermarket.
