X440 T Specifications

The Harley-Davidson X440 T is built around a 440cc air-oil-cooled single-cylinder engine developed jointly by Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp - the same core motor as the standard X440 but now paired with ride-by-wire throttle, which unlocks a suite of electronic rider aids unavailable on the original. The engine produces 27.37 PS at 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, delivered through a 6-speed gearbox. These numbers sit below the Triumph Speed 400's 40 bhp, but the torque delivery is well-suited to Indian conditions - strong in the mid-range where city traffic and highway cruising both live.

The ride-by-wire system enables two riding modes: Road (full power, moderate traction control) and Rain (reduced throttle response, maximum traction control intervention). Switchable rear ABS is also on the menu, allowing experienced riders to disengage rear ABS for controlled trail-braking on tighter roads. A Panic Braking Alert system flashes the hazard lights automatically under emergency braking. All these aids are managed through a 3-inch TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity for call and music control.

Suspension is the most hardware-significant upgrade on the T. The front receives 43mm KYB USD (upside-down) forks - a significant step up from the conventional telescopic unit on the standard X440 - delivering 130mm of travel with progressive damping that handles both Mumbai speed-breakers and open-road undulations. The rear uses twin gas-charged shock absorbers with 7-step preload adjustment, allowing riders to tune for solo or two-up riding.

Braking uses a 320mm front disc and 240mm rear disc, both with dual-channel ABS. The front caliper spec and bite quality received positive feedback in launch event reviews - a meaningful improvement over the standard X440 setup. Kerb weight is 192 kg with a 13.5-litre fuel tank. The ARAI-certified mileage is 35 kmpl; real-world owner reports from the X440 platform suggest 27-33 kmpl in mixed city and highway use.
