Harley-Davidson India officially discontinued the 1200 Custom (Sportster XL1200C) as part of the portfolio rationalisation following Harley-Davidson's exit from Indian manufacturing operations. The company had announced in October 2020 that it would cease local assembly in India and enter a distribution partnership with Hero MotoCorp. The 1200 Custom, along with several other Sportster models, was not carried forward in the revised Hero-distributed portfolio.

October 2020 - Hero MotoCorp takes over Harley-Davidson India distribution

Harley-Davidson and Hero MotoCorp signed a long-term distribution and manufacturing agreement in October 2020.
