Ducati DesertX Photos - Exterior, Interior & Detail Gallery

The Ducati DesertX's design tells the story of the bike before you read a spec sheet. The twin round LED headlights - a deliberate nod to the Cagiva Elefant's twin-light nose - are the most distinctive feature on the front end. The compact fairing is minimal and functional, leaving the trellis frame and engine visible from the sides.

The Testastretta 937cc engine is a visual highlight in itself: the L-Twin configuration with its exposed cylinder heads and polished covers has an industrial quality that looks unlike anything else in the adventure segment. The high-mounted Termignoni-style exhaust (two canisters on the right side) keeps the underside clean and raises ground clearance to a practical 250mm.

The aluminium sump guard is factory-fitted and serious enough to take real knocks. The tapered handlebar sits high and wide, giving the standing-on-pegs position a natural feel even for taller riders. The 5-inch TFT sits in a protective nacelle that keeps it visible in direct sunlight.

In motion, the spoke wheels in black with the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR rubber reinforce the dual-sport character. The Discovery adds a taller windscreen and pannier frames that integrate cleanly into the bodywork - it's one of the better-looking touring setups in the segment. The Rally's front beak and flat seat give it a pure enduro look that's immediately recognisable.

Road / Lifestyle

The DesertX photographs well in outdoor settings - against mountain backdrops, forest trails, or coastal highways. Its proportions are balanced for an adventure bike: not as tall and imposing as a BMW GS, not as aggressive-looking as a KTM, but purposeful in a way that communicates both performance and heritage. Photos across all four colour options are available in the gallery above.

Frequently Asked Questions

QWhat does the Ducati DesertX look like from the front?
The Ducati DesertX has a distinctive front end dominated by twin round LED headlights - a direct homage to the Cagiva Elefant Paris-Dakar racer. The minimal front fairing, wide handlebar, and upright stance give it an immediately recognisable rally-adventure look unlike any other bike in the segment.
QDoes the Ducati DesertX have a sporty or adventure design?
The Ducati DesertX has a pure adventure-rally design - tall stance, exposed tubular steel trellis frame, high-mounted twin exhaust canisters, spoke wheels, and a minimal bodywork style. It looks purposeful rather than sporty, with clear references to 1990s Paris-Dakar racing machines.
QHow does the Ducati DesertX Discovery differ in appearance from the standard model?
The Ducati DesertX Discovery adds a taller windscreen, integrated pannier frames (with hard panniers), engine protection bars, and a centre stand. These accessories are factory-fitted and blend cleanly into the bodywork, making the Discovery look like a purpose-built touring adventure bike rather than an accessorised standard model.
