Ducati DesertX Latest News, Updates & Launch Stories
The Ducati DesertX has had an eventful product cycle since its India launch. Here's a timeline of the most significant updates:
2022 - India Launch: Ducati launched the DesertX in India at Rs 17.91 lakh (ex-showroom), immediately positioning it as the most capable off-road bike from a European premium brand in the Indian market. The launch generated significant interest from the touring and adventure riding community.
2024 - DesertX Discovery Launched: Ducati added the Discovery variant to the Indian lineup at Rs 21.78 lakh, offering a factory-fitted touring package with panniers, taller windscreen, centre stand, and engine protection. The Discovery addressed the most common request from DesertX STD owners who were spending separately on accessories.
2024 - DesertX Rally Launched: The most off-road-focused variant arrived in India with Öhlins TTX36 rear shock, raised seat, front beak, and rally-spec ergonomics. Priced at Rs 23.70 lakh at launch.
2025 - Price Revision: Current ex-showroom prices are Rs 19.59 lakh (STD), Rs 23.28 lakh (Discovery), and Rs 25.34 lakh (Rally). A further price revision of up to 5% is expected from June 2026.
EICMA 2025 - Next-Gen DesertX Previewed: Ducati previewed the second-generation DesertX at EICMA 2025 with a new 890cc V-twin engine producing approximately 110 bhp, reducing dry weight from 223kg to 206kg. European deliveries are expected from mid-2026. An India launch timeline has not been confirmed.

The upcoming next-generation DesertX with a lighter 890cc engine is the most significant news for prospective buyers. If you're not in a hurry, waiting for the India launch of the 2026 DesertX (lighter, new engine, revised electronics) may be worth it. However, if the current 937cc bike fits your budget and needs, current dealer stock offers good value - especially with the expected June 2026 price hike. Follow the Ducati India announcements for confirmed launch timing.
