XL 100 Heavy Duty Specifications

The TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty is powered by a 99.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder four-stroke engine updated with ETFi (EcoThrust Fuel Injection) technology for BS6 compliance. It makes 4.3 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 6.5 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm - modest numbers, but the low-end grunt is exactly what you want when you're loaded up and climbing a slope.

ARAI-certified mileage is 65 kmpl, and real-world figures from owners consistently land between 57 and 67 kmpl depending on load. With a 4-litre tank (including 1.25L reserve), expect 240-260 km before you need to stop at a petrol pump.

At 88 kg kerb weight, the XL 100 Heavy Duty is one of the lightest two-wheelers in India. The payload capacity is rated at 130 kg, which means it can comfortably carry a loaded adult rider plus cargo on a typical day's work. The seat height is 787 mm, low enough for most riders to flat-foot with ease.

Braking comes via drum brakes at both ends, backed by Synchronized Braking Technology (SBT) - pressing the rear brake applies a proportional force to the front as well. It works adequately at city speeds, though the absence of even a front disc on the top variant remains a criticism.

The chassis runs on 16-inch spoke wheels (alloy on the top Alloy variant) with 2.5x16 tubed tyres. Suspension is telescopic hydraulic forks up front and a swing arm with hydraulic shocks at the rear. Wheelbase is 1,228 mm and ground clearance is 145 mm - enough for most rural roads.

All variants are BS6-compliant with a rollover sensor that cuts the engine automatically if the bike tips over - a meaningful safety feature given the heavy loads it typically carries.
