Triumph Tiger 1200 — Overview
At Rs 19.39 Lakh, the Triumph Tiger 1200 undercuts both the BMW R 1300 GS and Ducati Multistrada V4 while serving up a 1160cc inline-3 triple that long-distance touring riders consistently rate best-in-class for comfort on Indian highways. This is Triumph's most serious adventure bike - four variants spanning the road-biased GT Pro to the full-fat Rally Explorer with its 30-litre tank and 21-inch front wheel - and the only one in its class that doesn't make you feel like you're riding a piece of boardroom furniture.
The 2025 range carries forward 150 PS and 130 Nm with improved low-end tractability, making Mumbai-to-Goa runs genuinely effortless. Semi-active suspension on the Explorer variants absorbs NH highway patches without any rider input. The 7-inch TFT, cornering ABS, six riding modes, and keyless ignition come standard across all four variants. Where it struggles is the heat - that radiator throws warm air at your knees in Bengaluru traffic - and 246 kg of kerb weight isn't something you want to discover at a petrol pump U-turn. On the open road, though, very little at this price comes close.

What We Like
- Best-in-class long-haul comfort - owners report 18-20 kmpl on highways; the semi-active suspension on Explorer trims irons out broken NH stretches better than BMW and Ducati rivals
- Powerful, refined inline-3 engine with a distinctive exhaust note on downshifts; improved 2025 low-end pull means better pulling out of Ladakh switchbacks
- Loaded with tech: 7-inch TFT with Bluetooth, IMU-based cornering ABS, six riding modes, keyless ignition, and shift assist - standard across all four variants
- Better value than BMW R 1300 GS and Ducati Multistrada V4 at a similar or lower price, with higher user satisfaction ratings (4.5/5 vs Multistrada's 3/5)
What Could Be Better
- Significant heat build-up in city traffic - radiator ducts warm air directly at rider's knees and shins, making Bengaluru or Delhi summer riding uncomfortable
- 246 kg kerb weight demands respect at slow speeds; U-turns, parking, and tight city lanes are a workout, especially for shorter riders facing the 850 mm seat height
- Triumph's India parts supply chain is weak - owners report month-long waits for spares, which is a real concern for touring riders far from a service centre
Editor's Verdict
Should You Buy the Triumph Tiger 1200?
The Triumph Tiger 1200 is the pick of the premium ADV segment for Indian riders who clock serious highway and mountain kilometres - more comfortable, better value, and more characterful than the BMW and Ducati alternatives. The heat and weight penalties are real in city use, so it rewards buyers whose daily realities are Spiti passes and NH stretches, not office commutes. If you can budget to the GT Explorer or Rally Explorer tier, the extra tank capacity and semi-active suspension make an already strong package genuinely exceptional.
