Hayabusa Specifications

The heart of the Suzuki Hayabusa is a 1340cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, four-cylinder engine - the same fundamental architecture Suzuki has been refining since 1999, producing 190 PS at 9,700 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm in its third-generation form. The power delivery is deceptively accessible: Suzuki's 10-mode traction control and three engine modes (Active, Basic, Initial) allow the rider to tailor the character from docile touring to full attack. The 6-speed gearbox is paired with a bidirectional quickshifter, enabling seamless clutchless upshifts and downshifts as standard.

Chassis and suspension are genuinely premium. The front gets a fully adjustable KYB 43mm inverted fork with separate preload, compression, and rebound settings. The rear monoshock is a piggyback-reservoir unit, also fully adjustable. The aluminium twin-spar frame keeps the 266 kg kerb weight centred and low, contributing to the Hayabusa's reputation for surprising nimbleness at speed. Wheelbase is 1,480 mm; ground clearance is 125 mm - a figure that demands daily caution on Indian roads.

Braking is handled by Brembo Stylema four-piston radial calipers on twin 320 mm front discs, and a Nissin single-piston caliper on a 260 mm rear disc - dual-channel switchable ABS governs both. The Stylema calipers deliver excellent feel and strong resistance to fade under repeated hard stops. Tyres are 120/70-17 at the front and 190/50-17 at the rear - both tubeless radials.

Fuel tank capacity is 20 litres with a 3-litre reserve, giving a theoretical range of approximately 340 km per fill at the ARAI-rated 17 kmpl. Seat height is 800 mm - manageable for medium-height riders, though the 266 kg weight makes slow-speed manoeuvring the single biggest daily challenge for Hayabusa owners.

Electronics include: Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS), Suzuki Easy Start System, low RPM assist, hill hold control, Launch Control System, active speed limiter, bidirectional quickshifter, and a 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth smartphone connectivity. At Rs 18.06 Lakh, this electronics package rivals bikes costing significantly more.
