The update is primarily regulatory: the 649cc parallel-twin engine has been recalibrated to comply with India's E20 fuel norms, which require engines to run on petrol blended with up to 20% ethanol.
Mechanically, the 2026 Vulcan S is largely unchanged - the same perimeter frame, same 41mm telescopic fork, same adjustable monoshock, same ERGO-FIT system. The cosmetic change is the replacement of the Pearl Matte Sage Green colour with Metallic Flat Spark Black, which has been received positively by the community.
The Vulcan S was originally launched in India in 2016, making it one of the longer-running premium cruiser offerings in the market. Over its lifespan, it has received incremental updates aligned with Indian emission regulations (BS4 to BS6, and now E20) without major mechanical revisions. This longevity is both a positive - the platform is well understood and has a known reliability record - and a slight negative, since the instrument cluster and connectivity features have not kept pace with newer rivals.
There are no confirmed plans for a significant redesign or next-generation Vulcan S for the Indian market as of mid-2026. Kawasaki has focused its Indian product strategy on the Ninja family and the Z series for its high-volume segments.
