Jawa Standard Variants & On-Road Price

The Jawa Standard was offered in a single trim level throughout its production run, with price variations driven by colour choice and periodic updates. At launch in November 2018, it was priced at ₹1.64 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) - aggressive enough to put serious pressure on the Royal Enfield Classic 350.

By the time it was discontinued, the last known ex-showroom prices ranged from ₹1.67 Lakh to ₹2.05 Lakh depending on the city, with on-road prices typically landing between ₹1.90 Lakh and ₹2.30 Lakh after adding road tax, insurance, and dealer charges.

Colour choices across its run included Jawa Black, Jawa Grey, Jawa Maroon, Midnight Grey, and Khaki (the latter two were war-inspired limited editions added in 2021). There were no mechanical differences between colour variants - all shared the same 293cc motor, 6-speed gearbox, and single-channel ABS setup.

Jawa also sold a dual-exhaust variant of the Standard as standard equipment, unlike the Jawa 42 which went with a single pipe - a detail that many buyers specifically sought out for the deeper exhaust note.

For buyers looking at the used market today, expect prices between ₹90,000 and ₹1.40 Lakh for bikes in good condition with documented service history. Bikes from 2019-2020 (pre-BS6) tend to be cheaper; BS6 examples from 2021 command a premium. Always verify the service record and check for any fork seal leaks or clutch cable wear before buying.

When comparing value against rivals at similar used prices, the Jawa Standard competes well with older Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350s and early Honda CB300R units. The Benelli Imperiale 400 of the same era trades blows on styling but has an even more limited service network. If you find a well-maintained Jawa Standard with under 20,000 km on the clock and a clean service history, it represents solid value for a retro-segment bike that genuinely turns heads.

Frequently Asked Questions

QHow many variants does the Jawa Standard come in?
The Jawa Standard was offered in a single trim with no mechanical variant differentiation. All units shared the 293cc liquid-cooled engine, 6-speed gearbox, and single-channel ABS. The only choices available were five colour options: Jawa Black, Jawa Grey, Jawa Maroon, Midnight Grey, and Khaki.
QWhat is the difference between the Jawa Standard and the Jawa 42?
The Jawa Standard features a more classic, chrome-heavy design inspired by the 1950s Type A Jawa, with dual exhaust pipes. The Jawa 42 has a more contemporary retro styling with a single exhaust and modern detailing. Both share the same 293cc liquid-cooled engine and chassis. The Standard was positioned as the purist's choice; the 42 as the younger, street-oriented sibling.
QWhich Jawa Standard variant offers the best value for money on the used market?
Since the Standard came in one trim, the best value is a BS6 example (2020-2021) with under 20,000 km on the clock and a full service history from a Jawa authorised centre. Budget ₹1.10-1.30 Lakh for this sweet spot. Pre-BS6 bikes (2019) are cheaper at ₹80,000-1.00 Lakh but lack the updated fuel injection calibration.
QDoes the Jawa Standard get dual-channel ABS?
No. The Jawa Standard came with single-channel ABS only, operating on the 280mm front disc brake. The rear 153mm drum has no ABS assist. Dual-channel ABS was not offered at any point during the Standard's production run.
