Standard Specifications

The Jawa Standard runs a 293cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with cross-port technology - a setup that sets it apart from most rivals in the retro segment that use air-cooled motors. The engine produces 27.33 PS at 6,000 rpm and 28 Nm of torque at 4,500 rpm, channelled through a 6-speed gearbox with a reasonably light clutch pull.

At 172 kg kerb weight, the Standard is one of the lighter bikes in its class. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 tips the scales heavier, making the Jawa feel more nimble in city traffic and easier to handle at slow speeds. Suspension is handled by a telescopic fork up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear - a traditional setup that soaks up broken city roads well enough, though it can feel vague on fast sweepers.

Braking is managed by a 280mm disc at the front paired with a 153mm drum at the rear, with single-channel ABS as standard. Purists may wish for dual-channel ABS, but the front-biased setup is reassuring in emergency stops. Wheels are 18-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear, shod with 90/90 and 110/80 section tyres respectively.

The round analogue speedometer with integrated tripmeter and a fuel gauge keeps instrumentation simple and in keeping with the retro theme. There is no Bluetooth connectivity or turn-by-turn navigation - and on the Jawa Standard, that's a deliberate choice, not an oversight.

Seat height at 765 mm is notably low for a 293cc bike, making it rider-friendly regardless of inseam length. Ground clearance of 160 mm is adequate for most urban road conditions but requires caution on deep potholes and broken village roads.
