November 2018 - Launch: Classic Legends unveiled the Jawa Standard alongside the Jawa 42 at a high-profile event in Mumbai. Priced at ₹1.64 Lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it immediately set the retro segment talking. The liquid-cooled 293cc engine and dual exhaust were the main talking points.
2019 - Delivery delays: Early buyers faced significant waiting periods - sometimes 4-6 months - as production ramped up. This dented early goodwill and became a recurring criticism in owner forums.
2020 - BS6 transition: Jawa updated the Standard to meet BS6 emissions norms. The transition brought minor recalibrations to fuelling and a slight drop in outright performance, though the difference was imperceptible in real-world riding.
2021 - Khaki & Midnight Grey colours: Jawa launched two war-inspired colour options - Khaki and Midnight Grey - for the Standard, timed around Republic Day. The colours referenced India's military heritage and were well-received by the enthusiast community.
2022-2023 - Discontinuation: Jawa quietly discontinued the Standard as the brand pivoted to the new 334cc platform underpinning the Jawa 350. Existing dealer stock sold through, and the model was removed from the official lineup.

Classic Legends is running a free 72-point inspection service camp for Jawa, Yezdi, and BSA motorcycles from May 23-31, 2026 at all authorised dealerships - existing Jawa Standard owners can participate to get their bikes inspected and avail finance and exchange benefits.
Classic Legends passed on the full benefit of the GST rationalisation (28% to 18%) to Jawa buyers, cutting prices across the active lineup - the Jawa 42 dropped from ₹1.72 Lakh to ₹1.59 Lakh and the Jawa 350 from ₹1.98 Lakh to ₹1.83 Lakh; the discontinued Standard is unaffected but used-market competition from cheaper new alternatives has intensified.
Jawa officially discontinued the Standard in January 2024, removing it from the active lineup as Classic Legends shifted focus to the new 334cc Jawa 350 platform; the last recorded ex-showroom price before discontinuation was ₹1,72,942.
The Standard's discontinuation marked the end of the original 293cc Jawa era in India. Its successor, the Jawa 350, is a larger, heavier bike with a different character - capable and refined, but missing some of the original's lightness and raw retro charm.
