The current Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 launched in India on January 16, 2024, alongside its sibling the Vitpilen 401, marking a significant redesign over the previous generation. The new model gained a larger 398.63 cc engine, a full electronics suite, and a 5-inch TFT display, making it one of the most electronically equipped bikes in its price bracket at launch.
Shortly after the India launch, Husqvarna issued a voluntary recall for the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 to address a potential engine stall at low RPM in certain conditions. The issue was traced to an ECU software calibration problem. The fix - a free software update at authorised service centres - was also reported to have improved low-end torque delivery and overall engine refinement. Owners who had registered their bikes were notified directly by Husqvarna India.
Through 2024 and into 2025, the Svartpilen 401 received minor mid-year price revisions consistent with Indian two-wheeler market practice. No mechanical changes were made to the 2025 model year. For 2026, the bike continues in identical specification and colour to the launch model, with the ex-showroom price in Delhi now at approximately Rs 2,97,733.
Globally, Husqvarna's parent company Pierer Mobility has been restructuring its brand lineup. No confirmed changes to the India-spec Svartpilen 401 have been announced for the near term.
