The biggest news for Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 buyers is its discontinuation in India, which Husqvarna India confirmed in September 2024. The Svartpilen 250 had been on sale in India since early 2020, first with a BS4 engine and then upgraded to BS6 compliance. The BS6 Phase 2 update, which came in 2022, added OBD2 emission sensors and minor calibration changes but no performance revisions.
The discontinuation mirrors what happened with the Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 before it - Husqvarna India has systematically trimmed its lineup to focus on models that can sustain higher sales volumes. The Vitpilen 250 (cafe racer sibling) currently remains on sale and benefits from a marginally lower price and a larger buyer pool given its more conventional ergonomics.
For prospective buyers, the practical implication is that new inventory is limited to dealer stock. Husqvarna India has confirmed that spare parts and warranty service for the Svartpilen 250 will continue to be supported for the standard period post-purchase - so buying remaining new stock is not the risk it might appear. The service network challenge, however, was a pre-existing issue and continues.
There is no confirmed upcoming replacement for the Svartpilen 250 in India at this stage. Husqvarna globally has launched a new 401 platform for 2025, and speculation around a 250 cc revival using a different platform has circulated, but nothing has been officially announced for the Indian market.

A new-generation 2025 Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 has appeared on the official Husqvarna India website (husqvarna-motorcycles.com/en-in) and has been homologated in India, signalling an imminent launch. The new model features a lighter SOHC engine (vs the previous DOHC unit), a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth, Easy Shift clutchless gear changes, extended 10,000 km service intervals, and a seat height 15 mm lower than the outgoing model.
The new-generation Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 was revealed globally for the 2025 model year with significant upgrades: a redesigned single-cylinder SOHC engine with fewer components, a 2 kg lighter exhaust system, 5-inch TFT dash, Bluetooth connectivity, and Bosch dual-channel ABS with Supermoto mode. The bike produces 23 kW (approximately 31 PS) from its 249.1 cc engine.
Husqvarna India officially discontinued the Svartpilen 250 (DOHC, BS6 Phase 2, 30 PS) in September 2024. The model had been on sale since early 2020 across BS4 and BS6 generations. The cafe racer sibling, Vitpilen 250, continues to be sold at authorised dealerships.
For owners already riding a Svartpilen 250, the 2024 discontinuation changes very little in practice. Spare parts availability for the engine (shared with KTM 250 Duke) is excellent through the broader KTM-Husqvarna dealer network. Husqvarna-specific cosmetic parts may become harder to source over time - it is worth keeping a note of part numbers for the switchgear, instrument cluster, and bodywork panels while official dealers still have stock.
