The Honda Unicorn runs a 162.71cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces 13.18 PS at 7,500 rpm and 14.8 Nm of torque at 5,250 rpm. Those numbers are not the segment's highest, but the way the Unicorn delivers them matters more - there's no jerkiness, no heat-soak hesitation, just a linear pull from idle that makes city riding feel effortless.

The engine is paired to a 5-speed gearbox with a chain drive. Gear shifts are precise when the bike is in good condition, though owner reports from 2023-2025 units mention occasional stiffness in the gearbox - something to watch on a test ride.

Stopping power comes from a 240mm front disc with single-channel ABS and a 130mm rear drum. The ABS is effective on the front wheel and adds genuine safety on wet roads. The lack of a rear disc is a legitimate criticism - at Rs 1.13 lakh, rear disc should be standard.

Suspension is telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. The monoshock is the real differentiator in this segment - it absorbs potholes and speed bumps far better than the twin-shock setup on the Bajaj Pulsar 150 or TVS Apache RTR 160 2V. Seat height is 798mm, making it accessible to riders of average height, while the 187mm ground clearance handles broken roads well.

Kerb weight is a light 139 kg, which makes it easy to handle in slow Mumbai traffic or tight parking spots. The 13-litre fuel tank, combined with 50 kmpl efficiency, gives a real-world range of around 600 km per tank - excellent for a daily commuter.
