Triumph Scrambler 1200 Technical Specifications
The Triumph Scrambler 1200 X is powered by an 1,200cc, liquid-cooled, SOHC 8-valve parallel twin engine with a 270° crank angle - the same architecture that underpins the Bonneville family, tuned here for low-end torque rather than peak revs. It produces 88.7 bhp at 7,000 rpm and a meaty 110 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm, giving it a broad, accessible powerband ideal for mixed-terrain riding.
Fuel economy from ARAI testing stands at 22.72 kmpl, which translates to a real-world range of roughly 270-290 km from the 15-litre tank before hunting for a pump. In city riding, expect closer to 18-19 kmpl depending on traffic conditions.
Suspension on the X is a 45 mm Showa conventional telescopic fork up front with 150 mm of travel, and a preload-adjustable Showa rear monoshock with 150 mm of travel - both tuned for compliance over broken surfaces. The 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels are fitted with Metzeler Tourance tyres as standard.
Braking is handled by a single 320 mm front disc with Nissin twin-piston axial calipers and a 255 mm rear disc, both governed by dual-channel cornering ABS. The electronics suite adds switchable traction control and five riding modes: Rain, Road, Sport, Off-Road, and a configurable Rider mode.
The instrument cluster is a round TFT unit with Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation compatibility, and a GoPro control integration. At 228 kg ready to ride, it's not a light bike by any measure, but the mass is carried low and the riding position - upright, wide handlebars, 820 mm seat - makes it manageable at the stops.

Compared to the Ducati Scrambler 1100 (which is lighter at around 220 kg and sits 30 mm lower), the Triumph offers more displacement, more torque, and a larger fuel tank. The BMW R nineT Scrambler is heavier and pricier, making the Triumph the middle-ground option in terms of weight and price. For most Indian riders, the Scrambler 1200's specs hit the sweet spot between capability and daily usability.
