2025: OBD-2B Compliant GSX-8R Launched - No Price Hike Suzuki India launched the 2025 GSX-8R updated to comply with OBD Phase 2B (OBD-2B) emissions norms, at the same price of Rs 9,25,000 ex-showroom - marking no price increase despite the regulatory update. The 2025 model introduced three new colours: Metallic Matt Black No. 2, Metallic Matt Sword Silver, and Metallic Triton Blue, replacing the earlier palette. Mechanically the bike is unchanged from its India debut.
2024: GSX-8R India Launch Suzuki first brought the GSX-8R to India in 2024, positioned as the faired sportbike companion to the GSX-8S naked that had already established the 776cc parallel-twin platform in the country. The launch price of Rs 9,25,000 made it the most affordable full-fairing 800cc motorcycle in India at introduction, undercutting the Triumph Daytona 660 and targeting the Honda CB750 Hornet's audience with a more performance-oriented body package.
Upcoming: Suzuki GSX-8T Expected in India Suzuki is expected to bring the GSX-8T - a sport-touring variant on the same 776cc twin platform - to India, with expected pricing around Rs 10,50,000. The GSX-8T adds a larger windscreen, relaxed ergonomics, and touring-oriented equipment while sharing the core mechanical package with the GSX-8R and GSX-8S.

The Suzuki GSX-8T - a sport-touring derivative of the GSX-8R's 776cc parallel-twin platform - has been confirmed for India with an expected price of Rs 10.50-11 lakh (ex-showroom). The model is anticipated to launch in India around August 2026, slotting above the GSX-8R and featuring a taller windscreen, touring ergonomics, and potentially a higher-specification electronics package.
Suzuki has globally revealed the 2026 GSX-8R with a revised full fairing developed through wind tunnel testing for improved high-speed stability and reduced buffeting, forged aluminium separate handlebars positioned lower than the outgoing model for a sportier riding stance, and two new colour options - Pearl Tech White and Glass Blaze Orange - alongside the returning Metallic Triton Blue. Mechanical specifications remain unchanged: 776cc parallel-twin, 81.8 bhp, 78 Nm. India launch date and pricing for the updated model have not been officially confirmed by Suzuki India.
The GSX-8R's update history reflects Suzuki's disciplined approach to the Indian market. Rather than frequent cosmetic changes, Suzuki has focused on regulatory compliance (OBD-2B) and meaningful colour refreshes. The platform launched globally in 2023 and the India-spec version has been well received, with the middleweight segment growing steadily.
If the GSX-8T India launch is confirmed in 2025-2026, it will give Suzuki three bikes on the 776cc platform (8S, 8R, 8T) - a strong ecosystem for buyers wanting to upgrade within the brand.
