Suzuki E Access: Latest News, Launch Updates & Developments
January 9, 2026 - Official India Launch Suzuki launched the E Access in India at Rs 1,88,490 (ex-showroom Delhi), marking the brand's entry into the electric two-wheeler segment. The launch was initially limited to 30+ cities through select Suzuki dealerships and was also made available on Flipkart - making it one of the few electric scooters sold through a major e-commerce platform from day one. The 7-year battery and motor warranty was the headline announcement.
January - February 2026 - First Ride Reviews Major automotive outlets including Autocar India, ZigWheels, and BikeWale published first ride reviews within weeks of launch. The consensus: solid build quality and an impressive warranty, but range and pricing relative to competitors draw valid criticism. Autocar India gave it 3.5/5. ZigWheels verdict: "first time's the charm" with a caveat about the suspension stiffness.
March 2026 - Subscription Service Launch Suzuki partnered with Royal Brothers Rentals to offer the E Access on a subscription/rental basis across 7 Indian cities. This targets urban commuters who want to trial an electric scooter without committing to a full purchase - a smart move for a category where range anxiety is still a barrier to adoption.
Ongoing: Competitive Context The E Access entered a crowded market. Honda Activa e at Rs 1.19 lakh with 102 km range and the Bajaj Chetak 3501 at Rs 1.23 lakh with 126 km range are both more affordable with comparable or superior range. Ather's Rizta Z at Rs 1.53 lakh offers 123 km range. The Ather 450 Apex at a nearly identical Rs 1.90 lakh price offers 157 km range and 100 km/h top speed. This competitive pressure is likely to force Suzuki toward either a price revision or an updated variant with larger battery capacity in 2026-27.
Official Updates (3)
Suzuki outsold both Honda and Yamaha in electric scooters during January - April 2026, dispatching 2,261 units wholesale and delivering 1,161 units retail - giving it a 57% share of combined Japanese-brand EV wholesale volumes and 50% of retail sales in the segment.
Suzuki E Access recorded 702 retail units in April 2026 - a 466% month-on-month surge from 124 units in March 2026, signalling early ramp-up momentum in the scooter's fourth month on sale.
Suzuki India revealed its EV expansion strategy beyond the E Access - 1,500 units were dispatched by end of FY26 (March 31, 2026) and the company plans more affordable electric scooters targeting mainstream price segments, with an FY27 target of approximately 25,000 EV units cited by industry sources.
No new variants have been announced as of May 2026. Suzuki India has signalled plans to expand EV availability to all 1,200+ dealerships in phases through 2026. Watch for updates on a larger-battery variant or a revised price after the festive season (October - November 2026) when EV brands typically announce refreshes or offers.
