W175 Specifications

The Kawasaki W175 is built around a 177cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, SOHC engine with fuel injection. It makes 13 PS at 7,500 rpm and 13.2 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm - honest numbers for the segment that deliver smooth, predictable power delivery suited to city commuting and relaxed highway cruising.

The engine connects to a 5-speed gearbox. Gear changes are described by owners as slick and well-spaced. The W175 uses a semi-double cradle frame with a conventional telescopic fork up front and twin shock absorbers at the rear - classic underpinnings that suit the retro brief and handle most Indian road conditions without drama.

At 135 kg kerb weight, the W175 is one of the lightest bikes in its price range. The 790 mm seat height makes it accessible to a wide range of riders including those under 5'6". Ground clearance is 165 mm - adequate for city roads and occasional broken surfaces.

Braking is handled by a 270 mm disc up front with a 2-piston caliper and single-channel ABS, paired with a drum brake at the rear. The single-channel ABS covers the front wheel only, which is standard at this price point. Fuel economy is rated at 45 kmpl by ARAI. With the 12-litre tank, theoretical range exceeds 540 km. Real-world city mileage reported by owners sits at 37-42 kmpl, with highway runs touching 44 kmpl. Top speed is approximately 110 kmph.

The W175 is OBD-II compliant and BS6 Phase 2 certified. It is assembled at Kawasaki's Pune facility under the Make in India programme.
