The Hero Splendor Plus runs a 97.2cc air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder OHC engine - the same fundamental architecture that has powered crores of Indian commuters for decades, now updated to meet BS6 OBD2B norms. It produces 8.02 PS (5.9 kW) at 8000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm, paired to a 4-speed constant-mesh gearbox. These numbers are modest by any measure, but they're tuned specifically for urban use - punchy enough off the line at traffic lights, relaxed enough to cruise at 50-60 kmph without straining.

Hero claims 70 kmpl under ARAI test conditions, and real-world riders typically see 60-70 kmpl depending on riding style and traffic conditions. With a 9.8-litre fuel tank, that translates to a practical range of around 600-650 km per fill - meaning most riders will visit a fuel pump once a week at most.

The Splendor Plus sits on a tubular diamond frame with 18-inch alloy wheels shod in tubeless tyres. Telescopic forks handle the front suspension duties, while twin shock absorbers with dual-rate springs do the work at the rear - a setup tuned more for comfort on broken city roads than outright handling. Braking across all standard variants is handled by drums front and rear, which does the job in city conditions but requires confident, early inputs at speed.

At 112 kg kerb weight, the Splendor Plus is heavier than the Honda Shine 100 (99 kg) but the weight is carried low and the narrow build makes it easy to manoeuvre through traffic.
