Harley-Davidson PAN America 1250 Special - Full Technical Specifications
The Harley-Davidson PAN America 1250 Special is powered by a 1252cc, liquid-cooled, 60-degree V-twin Revolution Max engine with DOHC four-valve heads and variable valve timing. The motor produces 150 bhp at 9000 rpm and 128 Nm of peak torque at 6750 rpm, channelled through a six-speed gearbox with a bidirectional quickshifter and a slip-and-assist clutch.
Engine & Transmission The Revolution Max is Harley-Davidson's most advanced engine - liquid cooled, with variable valve timing that optimises intake cam timing across the rev range for both low-speed tractability and peak power. Vibrations are minimal, especially above 4000 rpm. The six-speed box has smooth, positive shifts, and the quickshifter is accurate both up and down.
Suspension The Special gets electronically adjustable semi-active 47mm Showa USD forks up front and a Showa monoshock rear, both offering 191mm of travel. The system reads road conditions and adjusts damping in real time. The Adaptive Ride Height (ARH) system can lower the seat by up to 25mm when you stop, making the bike more accessible for shorter riders.
Chassis & Brakes Dual 320mm discs with four-piston Brembo calipers handle front braking; a single 292mm rear disc with Brembo caliper completes the setup. Cornering ABS and drag-torque slip control are standard.
Wheels & Tyres The Special rides on spoked tubeless wheels - a critical distinction from the base model - allowing genuine off-road use. Front: 120/70 R19; Rear: 150/70 R17.

Against the BMW R 1300 GS (1300cc, 145 PS, 149 Nm, 237 kg), the Pan Am is heavier but makes more peak power. Against the KTM 1290 Super Adventure S (1301cc, 160 PS, 138 Nm, 228 kg), KTM leads on power-to-weight; Harley counters with a more balanced standard equipment package. The Pan Am sits in a competitive middle ground - not the lightest or most powerful, but a well-rounded package for Indian touring conditions.
