Heritage Classic Specifications

The Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic is built around the Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine - a 1,923cc air-cooled V-twin that defines what a modern Harley cruiser feels like. The '117' refers to its 117 cubic-inch displacement, which translates to that enormous 156 Nm of torque arriving at just 2,750 rpm. The power figure is rated at 92.45 PS at 5,020 rpm, but peak power is almost irrelevant on this bike - you spend most of your time between 2,000 and 4,000 rpm, where the engine pulls hard and smooth without any drama.

The Heritage Classic uses a six-speed manual gearbox and gets a performance-tuned 2-into-1 exhaust that gives it a satisfying growl without being obnoxiously loud. The suspension setup includes 43mm telescopic forks up front with 5.1 inches of travel and a single hidden rear shock with 4.4 inches of travel - both tuned for comfortable highway riding rather than spirited cornering.

Braking is handled by a 300mm front disc with a four-piston caliper and a 292mm rear disc, both managed by Harley's dual-channel ABS system. Crucially, this generation gets cornering ABS (C-ABS) and cornering traction control (C-TCS) - technology that kicks in when the bike is leaned over, which adds meaningful safety on twisty mountain roads.

The 18.9-litre fuel tank, combined with the claimed ARAI mileage of 18 kmpl, gives a theoretical range of around 340 km per tank. Real-world mileage in Indian conditions (mix of city and highway) tends to fall between 14 and 17 kmpl. The seat height is 690 mm - manageable for average-height Indian riders - and at 326 kg, the Heritage Classic is heavy but not impossibly so for experienced riders.

The bike rolls on 16-inch cast aluminium wheels (laced tubeless wheels optional), and comes with sealed, lockable saddlebags as standard - a feature many rivals charge extra for.
