Gixxer SF 250 - 10 months, 8000 km, here's my take
Ten months and just over 8,000 km on my Gixxer SF 250 now, mostly daily commute with occasional weekend rides. What sold me on this bike originally was reading how reliable the fully faired 250 segment could be if you pick right, and so far it's held up to that reputation, no unexpected issues, and both my services have been genuinely inexpensive, nowhere close to what I was bracing for on a fully faired bike. Mileage has been consistent too, right around 35 kmpl if I keep my riding sensible and don't constantly chase redline. The engine is impressively smooth for a single cylinder, barely any vibration through the pegs or bars even after long rides, and the six-speed gearbox makes commuting less of a chore than I expected.
This site's Gixxer SF 250 writeup is honestly what convinced me to test ride one in the first place. My one real complaint, I've started noticing a bit of surface rust forming around a few bolts and the chain guard area, despite regular washing and care, which is a known gripe among other owners too from what I've read. Suzuki's service network in my city is also thinner than I'd like, had to travel a fair bit for the second service. Otherwise thoroughly happy with the purchase, feels like a genuinely well built engine wrapped in a package that doesn't get talked about enough. Anyone else dealing with the rust issue, and found a good preventive fix?
