FZ-X ownership - 7 months in, here's the honest picture
Bought the FZ-X mainly for the scrambler-ish look, wanted something different from the usual naked streetfighter crowd, and on that front it hasn't disappointed. Riding position is upright and comfortable which makes the daily commute genuinely relaxed compared to my previous sporty bike. Mileage has been decent, I'm getting somewhere in the low-to-mid 40s per litre in mostly city use, which owners elsewhere seem to echo too. Where I have to be honest is the highway performance, the engine feels a bit stretched once you're cruising above 80-85, it gets the job done but there's no real punch left for quick overtakes, so this is very much a city and short-tour bike rather than a highway tourer.
Found most of what I needed on the FZ-X listing here before buying, in case anyone else is still doing their homework on it. My genuine gripe is the seat, it's on the smaller and firmer side, anything beyond an hour and I'm shifting around looking for a comfortable spot. I also had the chain go slack faster than I expected, needed adjustment well before I thought it would at this mileage, so keep an eye on that. Yamaha's Y-Connect app has been hit or miss too, the Bluetooth pairing randomly fails some days for no obvious reason. Overall still happy with the purchase for what it is, just wouldn't recommend it if long highway rides are your priority. Anyone else notice the chain wearing quicker than expected, or was mine just unlucky?
