The Simple Energy One Gen 2 comes in two distinct variants that differ meaningfully in performance. The 4.5 kWh variant runs a 6.4 kW (peak) PMS motor producing 52 Nm of torque, good for a 90 kmph top speed and 236 km of IDC-certified range. The 5 kWh variant steps things up considerably - an 8.8 kW (peak) motor with 72 Nm that does 115 kmph and claims 265 km of range. Both variants share a 780 mm seat height, 129 kg kerb weight, and 35-litre underseat storage, making them practical for daily use.
The battery setup is clever - a hybrid of a fixed 3.7 kWh cell and a portable 1.3 kWh module, both IP67-rated. Charging from 0-80% on the standard 750W charger takes around 5.5 hours; with a fast charger, you're looking at roughly 2 hours 15 minutes for the same. That's more than adequate for overnight top-ups.
On the tech front, the Gen 2 is loaded. A 7-inch TFT touchscreen running Android 12 sits at the centre of the instrument console, connected via a 5G e-SIM with Bluetooth and GPS. Six ride modes - Eco X, Eco, Ride, Air, Sonic, and Sonic X - give you everything from ultra-frugal city running to a proper performance kick. Traction control, cruise control, hill-hold, TPMS, and four-level regenerative braking are all standard.
Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends with CBS - no ABS, which is a gap at this price. Ground clearance is a comfortable 164.5 mm, and the 12-inch alloy wheels run tubeless rubber, making roadside punctures manageable.

For an electric scooter at this price, the Simple One Gen 2's spec sheet is genuinely impressive. The 8.8 kW peak motor delivers more grunt than most rivals, and the 265 km IDC figure is unmatched in production Indian EVs. Real-world range in mixed conditions will likely settle between 150-180 km - still excellent for urban commutes with headroom for occasional highway runs. The one notable gap is ABS, which would have made the front brake feel more confidence-inspiring.
