The Hero HF Deluxe is powered by a 97.2cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder OHC engine - the same reliable unit that's won over millions of Indian commuters. It produces 8.02 PS at 8000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 6000 rpm, numbers that are perfectly suited for city riding without any fuss. The 4-speed manual gearbox is smooth and predictable.

Hero claims an ARAI mileage of 70 kmpl, and real-world riders typically report 65-70 kmpl in mixed city riding - honest numbers that hold up in traffic. The 9.6-litre fuel tank means you can go around 640-670 km on a full tank, so range anxiety is not a concern even on longer inter-city runs.

The kerb weight of 112 kg makes it one of the lighter bikes in its segment, which directly translates into easier handling in stop-and-go traffic and while parking. Seat height is 805 mm - accessible for riders of most builds. Wheelbase is 1235 mm, and ground clearance is a practical 165 mm, enough for the broken roads and speed breakers most Indian riders encounter daily.

Braking is handled by 130mm drum brakes at both ends with an Integrated Braking System (IBS). IBS links the front and rear brakes so that pulling either lever applies proportional force to both wheels - reducing the risk of skidding for less experienced riders. There is no disc brake option on any variant, which is the most frequent complaint from owners.

Suspension is telescopic forks up front and dual rear shock absorbers with 2-step preload adjustment - standard setup for this segment but adequate for city roads. Tyres are 80/100-18 tubeless on both ends with alloy wheels from the Kick Cast variant upwards.

The i3S (Idle Stop-Start System) on the top two variants automatically cuts the engine after 5 seconds of idling and restarts it instantly when you pull the clutch. It genuinely helps fuel efficiency in dense city traffic. Hero also includes a side-stand engine cut-off, LED headlamp, and an analogue instrument cluster with a fuel level indicator.
