6 months and 4,200 km on my Activa 6G - the honest lowdown

Picked up my Activa 6G back in March and I'm past the 4,200 km mark now, so figured it's time for a proper writeup instead of just gushing about it on WhatsApp groups. First thing, the mileage. In pure stop-go city riding I'm consistently getting around 45 kmpl, and on the one longer trip I did out of town it touched somewhere close to 47-48. Not the segment leader but for a scooter this refined I'm not complaining at all. The Honda silent start is a genuinely nice touch too, no annoying self-start whirring at every signal, and the engine still feels buttery smooth this early into ownership.

Only real gripe so far is the headlight throw, the halogen unit just doesn't cut it on unlit stretches after dark. I've also come across a few threads mentioning the silencer developing cracks near the middle after extended use, so I'm keeping half an eye on mine though touch wood, no issue yet. Service costs have been very reasonable and Honda's network means parts are never a scramble to find.

I actually leaned on the Activa 6G writeup on this site while comparing it against the Jupiter, worth a look if you're still deciding.

Anyone else running into that silencer issue or am I just being paranoid? And what mileage are the rest of you getting on the highway?

Same boat here, 3 years and almost 11,000 km on my 6G now. Mileage has actually improved a bit as the engine loosened up, I'm getting a steady 48-50 kmpl on my daily commute which is mixed traffic with a bit of open road thrown in. Never had the silencer issue you mentioned, mine's been solid, so maybe it varies batch to batch or comes down to how aggressively people ride. Only thing I'd add is stick to the recommended service intervals religiously, skipping even one seems to be when people start reporting problems with these scooters generally. Still very happy with mine overall.

Nice detailed review. Quick question, are you still on the stock tyres or did you swap them? I've heard they wear a bit fast if you're doing daily 40+ km rides. Also a small tip for the headlight problem you mentioned, quite a few owners near me have gone for a drop-in LED replacement bulb rather than a full projector kit, and say it makes a real difference on unlit roads without touching any wiring. Might be worth looking into before your next long ride out of town.

Good writeup. I'll be the mild contrarian here, I actually switched from a 6G to a Jupiter last year mainly because the underseat storage and floorboard space weren't quite enough for my daily grocery runs. The mileage on the Activa was genuinely great, no complaints there at all, but ergonomically I found the Jupiter roomier for someone my height. Not saying the 6G is a bad choice, honestly it's probably the safer buy given how bulletproof Honda scooters tend to be, just wanted to offer a different angle for anyone comparing the two before deciding.
